and later at night in The Rocks - with a video light and playing around with a tilt-shift lense ( canon TS-E 45:2.8 )

Thanks for looking!

I like these a lot, lovely colours and sharpness and a sense of fun and adventure. Not to sure with the last, doesnt quite work for me, but just love the simplicity and feel of #2 and the fun of #3

Hey Jonathan,

Mate I am loving your photography lately, I have been looking at your blog each week.

I have to say I am not a huge fan of the tilt-shift lenses... I also admit I have never used one and would not know how, I just don't like the tilted out of focus effect (just me though).

The colours in the third are great. I think you will have a great time at this wedding!!!
:D

I liked these shots so much that I've just spent a happy half hour perusing your blog... some fantastic images there (and here).. the only crit I would have is the pp blur that you have applied to some of the shots.. its not working for me... but wow at the rest of them! :)

Hi Bindii - the PP blur isnt done in PP - its a result of using a tilt-shift lense. You can basically shift the lense elements out of line to the film plane (camera's sensor) so it strays the light in a bent fashion. My first time using it - probably did go a little crazy on it :) Thanks for your feedback!!

That's the beauty of the way Jonathan has used this lens.

The more typical usage is to correct perspective distortion (converging verticals) when you photograph a building, or to bring verious elements of an image into sharp focus without relying upon depth of field. Often, the positioning of the elements in space may actually preclude the use of DoF to bring all of them into sharp focus.

Jonathan's use here, is the reverse of that technique, and as such is a very creative way of using the tools that he has at his disposal.

I love it.
