Great shot! Is this HDR? are the sunrays real?

Bob

Looks like a great subject and you've got some great images from the outing. For me it's a toss up between this one and the one in THIS POST as to which is the better.

This is not a HDR. I am not a big fan of that process. I would be more likely to manually partially erase, overlay and blend images to give more control of the end result.
This shot however is a definately only a single image and yes the sunrays are real. - I used a 3 stop reverse grad ND filter.
The Nikon D3 Raw files have great detail in the shadows which can be surfaced in ACR & PS.

Thanks for your comments Peter - not sure if you saw this one http://www.dslrusers.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=32103&sid=fcf5d95931681855abe0d5510747f2fe and thought it wasn't as good as the other two or whether you just hadn't seen it. I changed the image size without "constrain proportions" ticked and added about 20% to the width for effect. Not sure if it works and would appreciate any feedback.

Damn you man - didn't see that third one and all are pretty good, but now I've seen it that last one is the best - I think because there is less sun flare THROUGH the shot.
