Steamfest Shots

It's been a while since I posted any shots since I've just been too bloody busy to get any PP done :x , but I've finally got a free weekend and have some I'd like to share for critique.

These were all taken at Maitland Steamfest last weekend. Not the best shooting conditions due to the constant drizzle, but I have a few I'm happy with.

First off is something I don't normally do - a candid. This young boy was in our compartment during a trip from Maitland to Paterson and he decided the steam engine whistle was too noisy so kept his ears covered for most of the trip.

An interior shot of our compartment. This is the same rolling stock that used to do the Sydney-Newcastle Flyer if I remember correctly - really brings back memoroies

And here's the beauty of no air conditioning - you can stick your head and camera out to get a shot (being sensible of course so you don't lose aforesaid camera and body part)

Finally a little detail shot of the piston

Peter, the first shot would have been better without commentary - to me the little boy has a wistfull look that takes me back to the days of steam in the old dart. Pic #2 has the most beautiful colours in the wood and has that aged look reminiscent of travellers smoking a grand Cuban cigar.

Thanks Chtis. I take your point on #1 - guess I should learn to shut up and just show the pics eh

Number 1 is a dramatic image and has lots of energy. The previous poster is correct...no commentary needed...so shut up. The image can stand on its own 2 feet. so to speak. I also like the second shot but wish the photographer was not included! It seems like an image from another time.
