Hi all, it's been a while since I've posted anything here so I thought I'd share one of my new projects with you all.

It's almost 3 years since the project started but I feel it is now at a point where I can show the results in public without the fear of hanging my head in shame .

It's basically a radio controlled helicopter which carries a custom built panoramic mount automated to pan a full 360 degrees and tilt from 30 to -90 degrees allowing me to take full 360 spherical panoramas at altitude. It's kind of like having the worlds tallest adjustable panoramic tripod!

Anyway, here's the trial run.... sorry, not the most inspiring scenery (that's yet to come). Click play on the image and once loaded you can click and drag across the screen or turn it full size with the icons in the bottom right corner. Enjoy .

I think this really has potential but I'm not sure how to market the service. Marketing's never been my strong point.

You must be a good RC Heli pilot. Most of the ones I've seen land up crashing...

Very impressive considering how you take the pictures. I looked into this market (I am not good at marketing either...) and looked into these swiss cameras that are automatically indexed and so on but I gave up, my day job took over . I was looking at advertising for tourism destinations.

I think this would be awesome to use at a wedding - doesnt have to be 360 - but be a great angle on things. Its better than Larson's Camera Toss trick seen here.! (and probably safer to a degree - except for the rotor blades catching a wedding guest... hmmm!)

Thanks for the kind words peoples . I've only just moved to Canberra and I'm still scouting for the ideal Panoramic location. I'll get a few more this week and post them as soon as I process them.

Thanks again everyone. I was just out shooting again this morning and there just happened to be a TV crew there. One of the guys came running over and had a chat and it now seems I'll have some video work coming my way. Fingers crossed .

The "hidden advert" is a watermark. Due to problems with people stealing my work and claiming it as their own I've been forced to include this in all my pano images. It's an unfortunate necessity .

Thanks again for the kind words. It's always nice to get positive feedback, especially when so much work has gone into it. BTW, who's Arthur? Fortunately my parents were kind enough to call me Andrew as there was an Arthur back in Primary school and for some reason the poor guy really got a grilling over his name.

Thanks for the link Gerard. Hmm a D3 would be a nice addition, although at 1.25Kg it's getting a little heavy. The website says it'll do a 360 in 2 seconds.... but theirs doesn't fly .

I have just posted another panoramic for those interested. It was 1 degree celcius at the time and I'm starting to think an investment in gloves and a beani might be a good idea!
