Went down to Military Jetty to capture the sunrise.
This heron was hanging around a fisherman casting a bait net looking for a free handout without success.
So I put the long lens and converter on the camera and captured several good shots - here is a couple of them.

Hi Bob

I like these pix for their sharpness and colour tonings.

However, the obvious timber and nuts'n'bolts background does detract from them IMO. In the second shot, the heron does look a little like he is about to pounce on a rather large metal object. I'm not wanting to be a spoiler, just give some feedback.

Nature shots for competitions and exhibitions should not include anything man-made. You may not be aware of that; or may not care about it.

Letting you know, just in case.

Perfect DOF, the straight line of the OOF background is great with the straight legs, and the lighting is surpurb - well done!

Hi Bob, what all the others said these are super shots. Only one thing grabs me as out of place (cos I have been looking at it in my shots) is there is a lot of grain in the bokeh, which is a sign of over-sharpening. It may be just the web resize?

The grain you see is "just grain" - simple as that. Comes from having ISO set at 1,600 and has nothing, in this case, to do with sharpening. But thanks for taking an interest.

Love the colours and you frame choice has really complimeted #1 for me - just prefer the composition
with #2 just cant stop looking at the bolt - especially when the leading line of the bill points to it
But keep up the jetty spot as your getting a variety of lovely shots
