Cormorant with new 500 f4Captured this little guy on rocks beside the river about 2.30pm this afternoon.
Here is a close-up from the same pic. Bob

Re: Cormorant with new 500 f4Bob,
very sharp and great detail even in the closeup. The D3 and a 500 f4 is an awesome combo. Which 500mm lens did you get? Is that the new Nikon 500mm f4 VR? My only nit-pik is missing tip of the tail feathers. Otherwise, nice background, placement of bird in frame. Yes! It's the new 500 F4 VR coupled with 1.7 Teleconverter. I did have the full tail in frame but cropped it out as detail was lost in shadow. Only cropped about 10% off f.f. image. Bob

Re: Cormorant with new 500 f4Thanks Bob,
that would make for an awesome combo. With the great shots you have been taking lately, looks like you have already mastered this setup. Looking forward to some more wildlife or surf shots. cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Re: Cormorant with new 500 f4Thanks for posting Bob but I’m confused. I can’t see the 500 f/4 anywhere on the cormorant
Great pic BTW Chris

Good one Chris. And I agree, an excellent image Bob. D3 and 500 f4, what a combo. I'm trying to convince myself I need the Sigma 300-800 or 800/5.6. Cheers John D3, D300, 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8, 85/1.4, 80-400VR, 18-200VR, 105/2.8 VR macro, Sigma 150/2.8 macro
