The first photo was taken the day after i bought my new camera at the clipsal 500, Canon 400d with standard 300 zoom lense on shutter speed priority, no touch ups, just reduced in size in photoshop



These two photos were taken when i was out having a few drinks with some mates during the fringe, the artist that painted the two girls is in the first photo, and the second photo i like cos the girls are truly having fun, again no touch ups, straight off the camera.





This last photo is of my friends ute, he asked me to take some photos of it after its new paint job (custom PPG pearl), this photo has had the levels modified, other than that, hasnt been changed.



Let me know what you guys think, no matter how harsh, i hadnt dabbled in photography in about 4 years when i got this camera

I'm a petrol-head, so I like the first shot. Needs a dab of contrast/sharpening to come up trumps I reckon. I'd also crop about an inch from the top. Looks like his window is busted, but might be a reflection?

2&3 are fun shots, with some happy gals (and guy)

#4 ain't bad, but reckon some softer morning/arvo light would really show just how neat the paint really is.

im yet to find time to go through the photos of clipsal weekend and edit them, (some 2,500 photos, not all so great), the window looks broken but i think its the trees, around that corner, turn seven, there are a lot of trees and there were tons of leaves on the track also. I will sharpen it up, crop it, and add some contrast to it, cheers for the advice.

I loved shooting the photos of the two girls, was extremely entertaining, and they were great girls to work with, although there were a few cameras, so there are few shots of them actually looking at mine.

The photos of the ute were a slapped together thing, we were both a tad bored one afternoon and had a stab, it was 40 something degrees that day as well, niether of us are morning people, so a sunrise shoot is a bit off i think, afternoon is a possibility, we did venture to Henley Beach afterward, this was at Adelaide Airport, within the new constructions, the beach shots came out well too, ill start a gallery soon

A small spelling lesson; 2 or more lenses, 1 lens

#4 is suffering from the harsh sunlight, no amount of dabbling with levels will let you get the colours of the new paintjob right. Finding a building to give shade would have helped, or waiting a few hours for late arvo sun without shade would also have worked better.

#1 would probably feel better with less room at the top, certainly removing the distracting splash of orange/red but personally I'd take about 20% from top of this print.

Only my opinions; ymmv.

Cheers mate, spelling was never my strong point

I agree with you comments on the photo of the ute, the photos at the beach suffered from similar problems
