Hi Matt,

do you have one of these angle viewing things that go onto the view finder ?

In regards to the picture, I personally would have liked the kids to also be in focus.

I believe that having the kids also in focus would have made a great connection between the worm life in the sand and the humans.

Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing the photo.

Cheers

Great depth of field, with most of the crab holes in focus.

Would it have been possible to stop down any further to get the children in focus?

Nice image. Has a sense of impending danger, or dramaw. You should have put it into the competition....it would have stood a good chance.

Another great shot, Matty. You could say the crab one was from a "different perspective" :)

Matt - I believe your first shot on the beach is just perfect. I really like the children being out of focus, yet in shot. We know the focus of the pic and yet the periphery vision gives us another perspective of the beach - well done

Yes, I second this comment! The out of focus kids, as well as the clouds' textures, give your image a bit of a "dreamy" atmosphere and I love that. I also think the fact the kids stands out over the horizon line make the shot more dramatic. The only pity is the crabs didn't come out for the shoot!

Matt, was any pp done to the image or are the kids and mountains untouched? They almost have a sort of oil or watercolor painted look to them. It's absolutely fab! :)

Crab eye view looks excellent. Well done Matt for taking a look from a different angle, it makes amazing differences. Also the way you have captured the forground with depth of filed but have an out of focus background with the children adds to the image IMHO.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers,

I think that the DOF works because we are imagining how a crab would view this, and the crab would probably see the kids as these blurry otherworldly monstrous figures from far away as well.

Great shot, it really hits the mark.
