... a Tonka Truck.

Whilst Alex's birthday is 3 weeks away, we had to give him his Tonka Truck early.

C&C welcome. I actually found the WB hard on these, even after finding the white point.

Great memories made here Patrick!
These are all good, but I like the contemplative/satisfied look in the 2nd image. The first one Alex's face looks a little washed out on my laptop LCD. What WB did you use and did you have to change it much when PPing?

Thanks Geoff. The WB on camera was set to flash, but they were too warm on the computer. I set the white point in ACR to the white nappy behind Alex in some of the images, or some other point that was supposed to be white. I often found this led to too much magenta, so there was a bit of a custom WB.

The only PP was some exposure adjustment in ACR plus some vignetting there, sharpening and resizing.

nice shots pat. you used flash right ? i find using a higher iso, (iso400+), and a slightly lower shutter speed, (1/50s) to balance in a little more ambient light and give the background a little more depth can give you a less contrasty, more natural looking image.

Thanks guys.

Rooz, understand what you are saying - all shot at 100, bouncing the flash from either the ceiling or wall at camera left (particularly the first). You're right, exposing for the ambient more would have allowed the hairlight from the window from Alex's left shoulder come through more, which is what I was after. I may have actually shot on aperture priority (which is not what I normally do) so didn't meter for the background.

Oh, and I will install a kill switch eventually :D

I think the lower ambient light here serves a great purpose in isolating the subject, and makes him stand out.

Did you know at the motorshow BMW were selling M6s for 99 bucks? they came in pedal power and 6V electric motors. I wanted one.
