Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 11:29 pmthe lighting was killing me this arvo, heavy shadows and super bright sunlight. my strobes are on loan for the weekend so i had an idea about metering for that one space where the harsh sunlight was streaming thru to get this effect. worked a treat, i love it and would never have tried it if i hadn't loaned my flashes.
took me a few shots cos he was tearing up and down the deck and i had to time it right to have it splash across his face. i gave it a few more goes to try and get his head a little higher so his whole face was in the light...yeah right. i was lucky to get this one. lol
LESSON LEARNT: Don't get complacent with what you know and what you're used to. try different things cos you might surprise yourself.

it's fantastic that you nailed the exposure and composition, but ultimately it doesn't matter if the expression isn't there. The cheekiness and playfulness which has been highlighted with the light is tops
