the tight crop does not leave much to work with........ but I would add a lot more contrast just to see if it adds more interest to the image

Honestly Peter,
Neither of these shots do 'it' for me.
For a Sydney night shoot, this could be anywhere and whilst the cloud formation is the best thing about the image..I think it is somewhat lack lustre - I know u can handle the crit

Peter, I'm with the others on this one.
Personally I think this would have been the better photo

Hi Peter,
I think the color photo has much better definition in the mid / mid-shadow tonal area than your conversion to BW.
If you can manage to get the same tonal variety in grey scale, that photo would also be good in BW.
It was also said regarding being a Sydney shot, I agree – the photo could have been taken anywhere.

colour version, however crop out the water as it's only a sliver and doesn't really add to the image.
