Pink Umbrella

I don't post a lot as I'm usually too busy writing reviews for radio, TV and the web and quite frequently I come home, eat, and then collapse on my bed. But earlier this week, I met up with a few of my old Uni friends and we had some waffles and sundaes and then went walkabout with my camera.

And my friends - Dee, Evi, Em, and myself - set up the scene in this alley near Pitt Street and I took most of the photos. The processing is mine, however, as it comes from a setting I've made which I don't exactly give out. It's based off of infrared... but not quite. I'd tell you, but I'd have to ram a pigeon down your throat.

Anyway, I digress.

Argg I can't pick. 3rd and 4th do it for me and so does the second. Love the controlled selective colouring :)

Like the concept a lot Leigh and like all the images, though the 3rd doesn't seem on the same level. :D

Another day and another viewpoint.

Of all the images the one that strikes me as having a message is #2.

The gap between the girl and the umbrella is narrowed due to the association we assume exists between the two. But, the mere fact of both the girl and umbrella being in repose on the ground shows a distinct disassociation thereby raising the question of the disparate difference. Going even deeper the umbrella could be giving the girl the cathartic relief needed in what appears to be a stressful situation. The alley, the girl and the umbrella join together in many different ways to tell a story of hopelessness but in the end the pink umbrella connects the girl with reality.

Whow just found this post and must say, like the others, that I like both the concept and the execution. I love pictures which tell a story. Very well done.
