Jazz through a D3

'Generations in Jazz' is a Jazz festival/competition that will celebrate 20 years next year.

GIJ is the worlds 2nd largest stage band competition with 84 bands this year

The James Morrison Scholarship has been running for each of those years, while the GIJ Stage Bands awards have been running for 15 years. A vocal scholarship has been set up and running for the last 5 or so years.

I was lucky enough to be given a d3 to play with for the day. Great Camera, and I spent the day shooting at 3200 (because I could). Heres a few to look at with a gallery here http://imagesbyjonesy.smugmug.com/gallery/5068200_iso3p/1/304989823_oRHLw

Lots of cables/mics and stands in the way of most shots but I was just out to play. All shot with 70-200vr.

brilliant. not just the capabilities of the D3 and the 70-200 giving you that wonderful sharpness. but the angles and mood you caught are just superb.

Hey Thanks everyone,

I had seen all of the reviews and looked at all of the samples, but nothing compares to winding up the iso and taking a shot yourself and seeing the results.

Thanks for all the comments.

BBJ, the cameras proud owner is Gavin Male. I did tell him how bad it was and that I should hang onto it so save him the worry of having a bad camera!...... didn't work

Hell mate, cant say you didn't try i guess but oh well i dont think iwould be rushing out to buy one as not my scene that sort of stuff not that i wouldn't mind having a go but working permanant night shift restricts your options and cant warrent the extra buck but will get me a D300 sometime soon.

Cheers
John
