#2 and #3 are very special.
what body are you using ? what do people mean when they say a camera is "IR converted" ?

IR converted is when the IR filter is removed from in front of the sensor allowing you to capture iR images with normal shutter speeds, you cant take regular photos though.
these are very nice, the whites look quite pink to me, though it adds to the effect, so i think it works.

Novice question ...with your IR camera does the image look IR (as is) through the viewfinder when you take the shot ?

I heard of IR photos before but never seen one until these absolutely amazing photos, I didn't know that it was snow in Adelaide until one of the comment gave it away, because of the IR effects.
now I'm interested in IR photography too, but I dont want to convert the camera.
Is there a way to kae IR photos without converting the camera ? eg. put on some special filter over the lens ?
regards,
Harry - new/beginner to DSLR world.
ps: when I read phohotgraphy magazines, some professionals mentioned that they carried an extra camera body, can anyone explain to me why do they need an extra body ?

you need some nd filters and a ir filter to screw onto the lens if you dont want to convert a camera .... and they carry an extra body as a back-up or to have a different lens on the other save changing the lens ie: at weddings

Hi Rob,
Pic #2 and #3 are fantastic. I love the depth in the shots.
What lens did you use for #3?

Rob,
I like these shots a lot. I lent my D70 to someone in need but I am pretty sure I'll get it
modified when I get it back. Well done

looks like some good result there,
I was also thinking of getting the d70 done a while ago. Another member use to do ir conversions but didn't do d70.
Which filter did you end up buying from life pixel?
is there a chance at a peak of the unedited ir pics?
Cheers

Thanks robw25,
are the exposure times force you to use a tripod?
I thinking off dropping my good old sony 717 for D70 but the live hand held IR is too good to pass up.

i used to use my 717 also for infra red but the long exposures used to stuff up a lot of tree movement, and yes the "live" view taught me a lot about how f stops and exposure times changed the end result, but changing from the sony to the nikon slr was a breath of fresh air in "my" photography, admittedly i had to "think" more about the shot cause i didnt have the live view but it made me a better photog ( in my opinion )
