Yeah, nice shot. Target of opportunity or set up? (asking because of the lighting - obviously set up you have a lot more control than opportune target) Ring flash or no?

Cheers guys, I found this little guy on my clothesline, tried to pick him up to take inside, but he wanted nothing of that and promptly flew into a shrub. No ring flash just the onboard popup, the light background is from our colour bond steel fence.

more shots can be viewed here

Gorgeous shot Bugeyes! Guess you can really identify with your subject. How many shots did you take to get exposure close with onboard popup?

Nil, camera was set to manual ~ 250th/sec at various apertures, the E-TTL then controls flash output to expose to your settings... as you can see from the exif data no flash exposure compensation was used. Nothing wrong with 40D's image quality, probably one of the best bang for your buck cameras available today. Here's a few more I didn't think worthy of publication, straight from camera only re-size for web.

Great shots. Excellent detail. I feel an attack of LBA coming on.
Gotta get a macro.
