This one was a set up shot, but I was surprised that my son would be so serious about pulling facial expressions.

Thanks for looking,

I quite like this although I think it would be stronger with your son's chin in view. (tilt the laptop screen down a touch).

Thanks Geoff. Here is a little different image from the same session. It's a little crippy.

I think image #1 is excellent and would not look out of place in a glossy magazine as an advert. It's a professional quality image.

heheh awesome lighting :) just be wary of where you've cloned out the laptop logo though as it's a bit obvious with the smudge.

Thanks Wayne! Hard to see on CRT. Will fix that.

Yeah, Dell may not be too happy :D Great photo, nevertheless.

Nice work Alex. What was the lighting?

Thanks Glen,

The lighting set up was very simple. One light with a snoot on the keyboard, pointing up at the model's face. The 2nd light was through a translucent umbrella from camera's right at ca. 45 degree angle to the subject. Ideally I would like a 3rd light to light the background a bit but the spill from the 2nd light was sufficient for that in this case.
Cheers
Alex

Very effective lighting Alex, the light on the keyboard simulated the light of the screen well, so all shadows etc were correct
