I played host to Matt. K and his charming wife this weekend just gone and we spent a few hours at Hunter Valley Gardens. These are a few that stood out.

Hi Peter, for some unexplainable reason I am quite taken with your flowers in the urn. Not sure if it is the dark juxtaposed against the light or your composition but I find it very compelling.

Peter,

No.1 is your signature image with very well spotted symmetry. I love the 3rd one - very nice contrast of dark shadows and bright highlights and contrast between bright red and black.

Thanks for the comments. I was a bit wary of going to the gardens in winter - especially since you pay nearly $20 to get in ($15 for us locals), but it was well worth it IMHO. They have taken some care to use a mix of plants, flowers and even the odd cabbage or chilli to ensure there is plenty of texture and colour to appeal. And if I was picking favourites - #3 here is probably the best flower shot I've ever taken - not sure what that means though.
