Not sure if any of you guys heard about it, but me and Seeto went and took some photos of the frozen people. Here are two that I like, as always they are out of the camera, tagged and compressed for uploading. NO OTHER PP has been conducted.

Comments and constructive criticism are most welcome.

Like the first shot good contrast and colour No 2 I think to many people in the back ground for my liking

I like no.2, feels a little warm but nice. The separation of the subject and the background is perfect.

Thanks for the comments. I was running up and down Pitt St Mall taking one shot of each person/group that I found intererseting. 3mins is a very short time!!

I assume from the title that these people freeze for a period of time in a set pose. To obtain the maximum effect it would make sense for any other people in the shot, who are not involved in the freeze, to have ‘motion blur’. Without the blur everyone has been frozen and does not show the full effect. Not a criticism of your shots but more an observation.

I actually thought of taking pictures of these but seriously, photography is the wrong medium to capture these events

I would have preferred a video format

Anyway good portraits nonetheless

awesome shots Cameron! i unfortunately got trapped with my 70-200 on body and didnt feel comfy changing lenses with all the confused passers by streaming through/bumping each other and bits of cigarette ash flying everywhere. Martin Place was said to be far more spread out. The bulk of attendees were too lazy to head to Martin Place so Pitt St mall was so packed....

Ron, we realised that when we rocked up still, there were togs from the Herald etc there too.

Sirhc55, that would've been a great way to emphasise the event.

if anyone watched the ABC news coverage of the event, i was to the left of the reporter

Chris is right - while technically good shots, they aren't really any different to shots you could take on any day of the week. I'd love to have seen some shots showing the confusion of onlookers, with the movement around these 'statues'. Well done on getting out there and getting something though - more than I've been doing lately!

I agree that video would have been a better format, but with a still camera I should have tried to capture the movement of the surrounding people, but Pitt St mall was PACKED with frozen people. Oh well good ideas for next time. Thanks guys for the comments!!
