300/4 + 1.7TC

3D tracking. 350 shots, about 300 in focus from a sports hack like me. 300/4 and the TC worked like an absolute dream. i found that CW metering worked better, matrix struggled every now and then with the harsh shadows and different contrasts. cropped and resized. they could prob do with a USM pass aftr the resize but i forgot to add it to batch so now i cant be bothered. everything else is as shot in cam. all shot as jpegs with high contrast and highest sharpening.

Nice shots, makes me wish i got down the coast with the camera and board more often!! Thanks for the inspiration, how far out were these guys?

Sharp as Rooz, you are making that combo sing!

some were reasonabley close, the guys riding the real big stuff were pretty far out. 450mm focal length and they were still a way off. the problem was that the shore break and tide were really high so i was losing 100m just to avoid getting my feet wet. (yeah i know i'm a pussy lol).

the last pic is the psycho riding the big sets using a jetski to tow him in/ out and onto the big waves. its about a 30% crop from original so that should give you an idea. this one is uncropped.

Well done ,the surf was definitiyl up. The 300 f4 is a great lens.
