Nice set of shots i like them all but think #2 would be good without the swan to the left.

Thanks for the advice Dave, was trying to convey some sort of relationship between the swans, but I guess that didn't really work... :?

nice pictures Jase555, where were these swans? Hardly see them around sydney but then again i hardly go out looking for such things.

Personally i wouldnt mind a bit more sharpness but that just my taste.

I disagree, Dave. I love the shallow depth of field. The other swan in the image places the first in context.

Nice work.

Jase,
I'm not sure if it's my monitor here at work or not, but these photos seem to be a little dark (to me), except for maybe no. 2.

No. 3 is the standout for me, though I would have liked to see more definition on the swan (it's a touch too underexposed - for my liking anyway)....though I do know how hard it is to expose for black (or white) swans :)

Just as a suggestion for no.4, which is a cute photo BTW, try taking the shot with the subject off-centre (in case of this image, with her to the left of centre) so it looks like she is running into the shot.

I also don't mind the shallow DOF and can see where you were heading with that photo.

Hope you find this constructive :)

This is close to where I live, Clinches Pond, Moorebank.

Thanks for the tips - debate over #2 proves that beauty is really in the eye of the beholder. A good shot to one person may not be to another...

Had a crack at shooting swans this morning Jase (before one had a crack at me  ). They aren't a easy thing to photograph especially considering their colour. Nice shots mate.
