I'm spending some time in Izmir, a city on the south west coast of Turkey, and enjoying the photographic opportunities
Here are a couple of shots taken at the Kameraltı marketplace - which is a bit like Paddy's on steroids.

This man was kind enough to let me photograph him as he kicked back and enjoyed an afternoon cigarette.

Love the images, the lighting on the first is really good, it just really works over the whole image. I also like it more than the second one due to the candid feel that we are getting a peek into his world without his knowledge.

thanks bwinnen. there's a couple of hot-spots on the first that i couldn't reduce fully in post. not sure if they're distracting or not. but, yeah, the candid feel of the first is nice - though, of course, after i'd made my presence known, i had to ask him to look away from the camera. he actually thought i was asking him to move out of frame (my turkish isn't so good...)

Excellent shots Carla. I actually put #2 at the head as that gentleman has a definitive cheeky look

Welcome Carla, both have a very nice feel for the reasons stated above. I prefer the composition of the first. Look forward to seeing more images from your trip.

great stuff Carla. Love the composition of the second pic, is that the original crop or did you re-crop it as his hand is a bit tight to the right side of the image. Otherwise brilliant

Yes, i did re-crop, and didn't notice the tightness but you're right. Have adjusted. Thanks for the tip
