Auburn Minimeet - My take.

Had a good day at Auburn, nice to meet everyone. Here are a few of my photos from the day. As always feel free to criticise as required:
1. The Reflection Pool. Day was really overcast which made for a not so reflective pool. I've mucked around with this a bit to try and bring an otherwise boring photo to life.
2. These Jonquils were just along the path from the reflection pool.
3. Rotting Log
4. Abstract leaf pattern Umbrella tree
Enjoy

hey wheels, nice pictures, I really like the log one - a different perspective, I remember you getting down and dirty to capture that - above and beyond the call of duty....well framed also imo, you have all the log in the picture and a suitable amount of surrounding stuff to frame it nicely....
I also like the Jonquils ( I only now know what type there are!) nice crisp whites.
The reflection pool is a hard one to shoot imo - any slight variation in the symmetry or angle of lines really throws the picture out, I have to say yours turned out better than mine.....

I like the pool photo. I think it's a perfect candidate to replace the sky!!

First image does not work for me because I don't know what to look at. What's the subject?
Next 3 images are big, strong and have lots of impact. Are you left handed? (It's a style thing). They fill the frame and not a pixel is wasted.
Cheers!

Thanks for the comments guys. The jury seems to be out on the Reflection Pool. Maybe my PP was a bit too much, I know that sometimes people don't like to have the PP quite as blatant and other don't mind.
I do see your point Matt - there doesn't seem to be a singular point of interest in the shot. I kinda tried to create one (the pool). It would quite possibly be a more powerful photo with a decent sky or a statue or something larger at the far end of the pool.
In answer to the lefty call - I'm kinda weirdly ambidexterous. There are some things I can do equally well both hands (cricket bat, snooker, photography, computer mouse) and other that I have to use my right hand for (writing). Why?

Thanks Benny. I think the poor light kinda helped with some of these. (obviously not the reflection shot
). If it had of been a sunny day the white flowers wouldn't have turned out so well and the log would have been damn near impossible to get right in a dappled rainforest style setting. All I did for the flowers was overexpose by half a stop to get the white really white. Had the sun been on them I don't think it would be anywhere near as nice.
I'm still curious about this left handed thing
