A couple of shots done for two new guys in the office on relatively short notice. Unfortunately we couldn't find out black backdrop so the background is in fact the office with the lights out, and anything white covered up as it was appearing in the shot. Lit with two lights at the front 45 degrees each side, one back left at about 45 too. would have liked one more back right but i only had 3!

Nicely done with the lights, although a tad hot on the forehead in the second shot. The rear light nicely separates the subject from the background.

My only real criticism is the reminder that the orientation you have shot these is is called "landscape" for a reason, and there's a good reason the alternate orientation is called "portrait". :)

Use the dodge tool in pshop and run it through the darker areas of their heads to seperate it from the background a bit more. Ditto to what Gary mentioned about orientation and the hotspot.

For a couple of quick grab shots I think you've done very well. Ditto what Gary says but otherwise pretty good.

Also, the guy in the 2nd image should have had his tie fixed & straightened before the shot was taken. As a corporate photo, it makes him look scruffy.....sorry.

From horizon police to straight tie police

Yes good points about the orientation, perhaps I should have posted the crops we actually used for the final product... they get used pretty small so the loss of pixels isn't a big deal!!

Believe it or not, that second one is after we fixed his tie. I don't know if it's the way he tied it or what it was made out of but it really would just not sit right. You should have seen it when he sat down!!

Thanks all.
