G'day All,

Been busy taking pics of the little people. Having a great time getting used to my new D300 which sure is a step up from the D70. Looking forward to giving it a tour of duty on our impending trip to the US

The 1st pic is a shot I entered for a local photo comp in St.Kilda.

One, three and four. Being a bit demanding here, but I feel the second one did not quite work for me because the child seems almost suspended on mid air since the black sleeve blends too well with the background, a different colour garment would have been preferable here. The other point is the pupils of the baby; somehow they don't look natural to me. I am not sure if you re-touched them a bit too much. By the way, the bay is absolutely gorgeous as seen in three and four.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

- Yeah, I did print the 1st image at 13x19 on Matte Paper, and it does look a treat.

- I know what you're saying about the eyes in the 2nd pic. I think I stuffed his left eye up in post as it was only a quick conversion. It was my intention to make the baby appear suspended though.

If that is the effect you wanted if oK then because it would be very difficult to clone the hands out. But, those eyes... I feel you have to go back to the original (hopefully you still have it) and give them a more natural look; otherwise, the child will will have his/her revenge in due course.

Personally, I find re-touching the eyes a very difficult skill to master because they say so much and covey so many feelings. But, keep trying and don't leave the image as it is even if you have to re do it a few times it will bring you a big satisfaction as a reward once you have those eyes right.
