My first outing using a 300 2.8 AF-S II recently acquired while the $ was doing well. It's heavy but worth it IMO. :D

I really enjoy doing my sons footy pics and hope one day to progress to doing this a bit more seriously

Getting colours and lighting consistent and really sharp pics is what I need advice on so any feedback and CC welcome.

thanks for looking

Like the intensity in #1, and the blurred BG from shallow DOF. Good work.

R2,

great lens you got there, you will love it the more you use it.

Great photos showing a lot of intensity. I'm no expert but that won't stop me from giving you advice

#1: just a bit more DOF would have been nice, the boy in the back is just slightly starting to be OOF. The ball in the shot would have been nice but not really required with all the intensity you captured.

#2: A bit more space on the right and a better background would have been nicer

#3: spot on  this is my favourite

Looking forward to more,

André

Thanks Andre and Shakey -I appreciate the specific feedback.
First time round I just wanted to see what images I would get leaving it on AP @2.8 and seeing what speeds, colours, DOF resulted
trusting the lens to do the work close up - instead of cropping later - is one key area I have to work on.
Eliminating crappy backgrounds - always a challenge :D
cheers

Great use of what looks like an awesome lens. Very good, textbook tackle in No 2 - looks like he is dragging the opponent sideways instead of forward and into the back. Good pinning of the arms. Sydney Swans fans would have yelled "ball!!" straight away with that one! :D
