Purchased a Canon 50mm F1.4 to use as a travel lens. The thing is quite sensational IMHO. Here's a few snaps as I tested it out last week, (mostly in fading light) on the north coast of NSW. I don't think you can't beat a prime for image quality and bokeh.

Love the 2nd and how you are almost at the level of water surface. How did you shoot it?

I held the camera at wAter level and hoped for the best! A right angle viewer would have been handy!

Fabulous shots Ozzie. 1 & 2 really dispel the notion that you need a wide range zoom to get the best take on opportunities.
I've got one (50mm 1.4) in the kit, but haven't used it yet, still trying to wrap my head around everything on the body!?!

Thanks all. Pa, I was fishing with the missus, err, she was fishing (I'm hopeless at fishing), & the pelly's were just there, 18 inches away, looking for a feed!

don't you just love the 1.4? :D It's the lens that's attached to my camera most of the time now, starting to use the 24-70 less and less :)

True, it's on my camera most of the time now, it's small, nicely made, and VERY sharp above F2.

Great pics Oz, especially the second. I agree it's a great lens - especially in low light.

You need to update your sig
