Hi Lads,

Here's a few pics I took in Brno. I'm learning in terms of motorsport stuff. It's also bloody hard behind a wire mesh fence to get them 100% clear. I realise now that I should have moved around and got a lot more angles etc but hopefully they're not too bad.

Would love some C&C as to how I can make them better.

Some nice shots, ive shot cars before through the fence and it can take time and practice to get it right, at least you picked the aussies to shoot!! (gotta love that Stoner kid!) im trying my luck at Phillip Island in October on the bikes, new lens in hand so hopefully should return some good results, having never been to a motorbike race before, im not sure how ill go!

In my opinion an 80-200 is not enough.

I'm going to look at purchasing a 300mm F4 and maybe a TC.

I need more length!

Im buying a 400 F4.5, i found the 300, even on a crop sensor, at clipsal wasnt quite enough to get through the fence sometimes, get myself some nice L series glass before i upgrade to a full frame, at which, might be time for an extender tube..... See what happens.....

Some great images Benny. Number 2 would be my standout photo though as the blue van in the background is distracting in the first. Number 1 is a good photo also except a wanker in the centre of the frame dressed in red spoils a good shot of a great bike. Seriously though considering the distance you are from these type of action shots some great results. I've found a 200mm lens is again not sufficent to capture events such as these. Used a 200 at Phillip Island in 2006 and got some great shots but not outstanding. Luckily with dedicated racing circuits the fencing is not such an issue unlike the Clipsal and more so at the "Honda/Lexmark/Whatever sponser it is this year" Indy on the Gold Coast. Anyways hang in there and keep the motorsport pics coming.

The price? Of the lens? 1700ish i think im going to end up paying when i get around to ordering it, just waiting for the tax to come through so i can suss what im going to buy exactly, lenses, speedlight, bag etc.....

The safety fences at Clipsal et. al. shit me to tears, but you gotta put up with it and deal with what you got really.

Agree with you about the can in the first pic, i did pick up on it too, but it would be worse behind the Rizla Suzuki being almost the same colour.....

As for Stoner, having always been a Ducati boy, and hearing about this Stoner kid a while back ive always supported him, but that Vermulen guy really can ride to!! So im finding myself some Vermulen and Stoner gear for my trip to show my support for the pair, throw them both on the Duc's and it could be a fun season!!!
