Recent excursion to Gloucester near Newcastle... Saw this old truck which was screaming out to be photographed...
Didn't quite capture what I really saw, so had to manipulate it...just a little bit.. Critique as always welcome...

Looks almost HDR, great job!!!

It is HDR Geoff, I tried to light it with my 430EX but simply wasn't enough..would have been handy to have a few lights, battery packs, a small crew and a truck to carry them in..

it's beautiful. a really great capture.
the only comment i have is about the shadow on the mountains in the background. the line of the shadow doesn't look completely natural. did you retouch there?

While I like it a lot ....

I'd like to see some of the foreground cropped from this. (Think pano style)

And it'd be nice with a bit less space on the left, and a touch more of the buildings on the right brought into the frame.

Yes I replaced the whole sky with a sunset I took the next day in the same area (not the same location). Unfortunately when I took the +2 -2 bracketed shots, I didn't realise that the sun was getting blown out in the even most underexposed shot. So couldn't recover any detail there. Wish I had done a +5 -5 but I won't get a second chance though.

It was a 2 hour edit to get the sky replaced... Which area of the mountains don't look natural?

Will try and repost Gary. Although the buildings to the left don't convey the same old look as the truck.

Without any technical reasons I just love this shot

This is a kick arse image. The work you've done on it is well worth it for this result. Tiny niggle is I'd like it more centred (crop from right and bottom a touch), but hey I'm a neat and in the middle kinda guy

This image is wonderfully atmospheric and sets a real mood. The colours are dreamlike and the truck maintains a dignity despite its condition and age. A beautifully created image!
