After last summer's fire

I found myself on the edge of a burnt out area at Mt Lofty (near Adelaide) yesterday.

One thing I learned: Getting reasonable exposures of dark subjects even in muted overcast daylight is quite a challenge. Excluding the sky helps, but the metering system tries to render black to grey. I set manual mode for a few of them.

The area has been thoroughly burnt out.

And just to alleviate the bleakness. There are some excellent wattles on show a few metres down the track.

C&C Welcome. :)

Bit of offcamera flash can sometimes help boost images like the first one, which is my favourite out of this lot... you could cheat and add some fog for a bit of atmosphere (literally)
