It's been a while since you have had to put up with photos of Alex.

These were taken at his grandparent's house where he loved running around in the backyard and playing with their fox terrier.

In the first 2, I was playing around with fill flash and pumping up the shutter speed to get the ambient much lower, as evident by the dark skies.

This one was an experiment of trying to rescue a slightly overexposed image by pushing the highlight and mid-tone much higher via curves, to target a "high-key" look. Did I succeed?

This one, I just loved.

Your C&C would be appreciated.

Patrick,
More fine images from you mate!
I like all of these but in order of preference my selection would be;

3, 2, 4, 1

Why I like no. 3 the best? The genuine look of joy on grandma's face and intensity of their interest in Alex is extreme, it's beautiflu and will serve as a great memory of this time in Alex's life. I also think this would convert very well to B & W.

No. 2 - this is an image of total contentment, relaxation and safety...Grandma's arms...I think the saturation could be upped a little in this one however as on the laptop monitor it looks a little bland..i.e Alex's face looks a bit too white.

No. 4 - Discoveries! The happiness on Alicia's face, in response to the discovery of the cat in the garden, priceless :) Alex tentatively holding Alicia's hand in the hope that he too will be able to pat the pussy cat!

No. 1 - Hmmmm, just doesn't appeal to me. Grandpa's turning his nose up at something, you don't have Alex's attention (or maybe the cat does?!) and Grandma is masked by Alex. Not to say it's not a great image, just not my fave out of this series.

Thanks for sharing, Bel and I never tire of seeing your images of Alex. :)

#1 - I agree with Geoff

#2 - I like

#3 - Technically terrible

#4 - Composition excellent, colour superb, subject captivating - this has to be the outstanding shot of all 4

ditto.
#4 is a beauty. the "sneaky" style of the shot between the bushes adds to the charm of the scene.
