Portrait of my Girl

Hi Guys,

I don't usually post images of my daughter on the internet, but I couldn't resist this one.

This was taken last weekend and processed in colour by myself. Geoff then applied his B&W PP skills ( with some cloning to remove some of the background ) for me. I'd have to say, the B&W version is fantastic. Thank you Geoff.

Wock - u know that I love this shot you've taken with your new toy and I can't wait for you to see the A3 print I've made of it on the R1800!

Good work mate. I don't know why, but I think the B&W version just works so much better than colour.

Thanks for sharing!

The eye contact is spot on.

Why not post the colour alongside the B&W so we can all judge. I’m not doubting Geoff’s ability one bit but it would be nice to see the difference  BTW Wocka you have a beautiful daughter.

This is an absolutely lovely photo, and unlike many childhood "happy snaps" your daughter should have no reason to be embarassed by this when she grows up. The eyes (and lashes) are delightful.

I would also be interested to see the colour version, just to see the difference.

Only one thing detracts from this photo for me; it feels a tad cut-off on the right hand side. I think I would prefer slightly more space on the right side, but it would be a shame to crop the lovely hair detail from the left side of the frame. Perhaps a slightly wider composition that includes her left shoulder would work better for me.

Thank you for the kind comments,

Unfortunately the right hand side is at the edge of the image.
As requested, here is the colour version.

Thanks Warwick. Although the B&W has its merits I do prefer the colour version. The little ones hair colour coupled with her eyes tell a completely different story. My thoughts on B&W are towards a more contrasty look which takes any pic into a different realm.

I’m sure that your daughter will, in years to come, place this picture at the forefront of her memories
