Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Re: booksLove it..
Love the colours and the slightly disorganised books and notebooks against the regular gray background. The file holders or whatever they are in the lower left hand corner are distracting, but over all it's a great concept.
Re: booksHey Rampotta - slow down (please)
This is your 10th new post for Review and Critique in the latter part of this weekend. Are you posting here because you want us to look at your work and make Ohh Ahh noises, or are you hoping to learn from some of the people here? For you to benefit from other people reviewing your work - you must give them time. Do not expect dozens of replies within minutes of your post. You don't need to keep sending images until someone replies or holds up a white flag of surrender. Please give the people here time to look at one post at time? If you want, in that post you could have included up to 4 images. Then based on the feedback given, perhaps you can try to follow some of the advice. Then go out and take more pictures, then perhaps a new thread to show what you've learnt and perhaps seek advice on the next step. Please don't be discouraged by my response here, but please consider others too. This forum has many members, in the thousands and if we all posted 15 times per day, no one would have time to appreciate the work of others nor would there be time offer encouragement and friendship. You will find that there's plenty of both all through out this forum. As a final minor thing, the faq has lots of helpful answers, and guidelines it in. You should perhaps reread the section about location before the big gruff Mr Gary comes along. Welcome to the forum Take care Bob in Bull Creek
Re: booksG'day (again)
I thought I'd give you some feedback on this image. This feedback is of course, only my opinion and feel free to ignore it. To me, the image would benefit from more contrast. I would try to shoot again without the metal legs or whatever they are on the right (bottom) or at least crop out the distracting feet of the people walking. It was a nice idea to have rotated the image, it does help lift it. Take care Bob in Bull Creek
Re: booksThis shot does need more contrast to lift it. Unlike Bob I don’t like the rotation. On first looking my thoughts were, there’s something radically wrong with this shot as it does not conform to visual indentification. On turning my head 90° clockwise I saw the what I should have seen initially.

Re: books
Exactly.
Or to simply get your post count up so that you might qualify for the members' benefits? The lattermost approach simply does not work. And the former is really a waste of time too: we are not interested in ooohing and aahhhing over images. We are interested in offering genuine critique, where we can, and where it is warranted. This means that that some images will receive critique, and others may appear to be ignored, and where a member appears to be flooding the forum with images, what tends to happen is that the members' posts end up being ignored. Also, please consider that this is a two-way street. People here will gladly offer critique and suggestions for improvement, but you need to be responsive to that as well, and also perhaps you need to consider offering opinions and suggestions on the images of others. Just posting image after image after image, with no comment on feedback received, and no comments offered to others will see others viewing you as a taker, rather than a member of the community that we enjoy. I'll leave it to you to assess what the outcome of that might be, as well as where it is that you seem to be placing yourself within this community in the few days since you commenced posting. But wait: there's more:
Yep. Bob's right. It even says exactly that, right at the top of this very page.
Too late. On the portal page we describe exactly what "meaningful" is. This is not a request; it's a condition of membership, and it permits us to help you even more. Your future cooperation is appreciated. g.
