Malaysia 2008Rosanne and I enjoyed a great three weeks in Malaysia during August. The people there are friendly and helpful without exception,
the food is great, the shopping is great and there are lots of good things to see and do. Unfortunately, I picked up a virus in the last couple of days which developed into pneumonia, so the last week and a half since we got back haven't been so much fun. I should mention a shopping plaza in KL which was right next to our hotel (The Federal), the Low Yat. Nine levels of camera gear and computer gear. I have never seen anything like it! I took the trusty Canon S3 rather than lug the D200 etc, and it really is a perfect travel camera, great zoom, excellent quality video, image stabilisation, reasonably compact and a good amount of control if you want it. And is runs on 4 x AA batteries, so eight Vartas (15 min charge, I believe I have mentioned before ) served me well. It wasn't quite the photo feast of last year in Spain, but still some opportunities. I would like to start with four photos all about the text, nothing special photographically. First, the sign under the toilet lid at the beautiful Avillion Hotel in Port Dickson. The sanitary pad I can understand, but the comb, toothbrush and pencil have me perplexed to say the least. Second, this young bloke worked in a shop in Georgetown. I congratulated him on his T-Shirt and he was very happy to have his photo taken. Number three is a sign on a shop front in Georgetown. I really needed to capture a bit of the shop which was far from what was claimed on the sign, but I just loved the sign. And finally, this was the sign at the Orang Utan rehabilitation centre in Kuching on Borneo. No comment necessary. More photos soon. Greg - - - - D200 etc

Re: Malaysia 2008Love them! I suspect that in the first image is implying that some people may use the toilet as a convenient garbage disposal..
