I think #3 is far and away the best of these.

#1 suffers from the fact the rider is effectively riding out of frame so the eye isn't constrained within the image (a few sceonds later he'd have rounded the bend and you'd have nailed it)

#2 is a cracker image marred by the two posts running up the frame. I think this is recoverable by cropping tightly around the rider which would still leave plenty of air between them and the ground

#3 is spot on. Good depth of field and the rider is coming straight at us ... fast!

As for the lighting and your new lens - no complaints there

ah, the 2 "posts" are tree branched that i tried to frame the rider in. Trying anything to break the mould of generic race shots

I know you had your reasons, but I couldn't resist spending 30 seconds doing a crop...
I'm guessing there are a million pictures of bikers getting air.
