A few from my trip

Well last friday I returned from almost six weeks overseas, first Boston, MA for work, then London again for work and visiting Matt and Sam (rokkstar) and then the remainder spent in Ireland and Scotland. I had a great time, and while I took plenty of photos, this trip unlike the last wasn't ABOUT the photos, rather a holiday to relax and enjoy. So while my photos aren't so good, my relationship with Katie is much better as she was no longer left waiting in the car for hours while I waited for "the light". Anyways, here are a few shots to give you a little taste of what we saw.

Taken on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. 200mm 1/2 sec exposure, really pushing my little travelpod's sturdiness in heavy wind

Again taken on the Isle of Skye, one of the few times the sun was out. Old Man of Storr in the background.

A better view of Old Man of Storr

A Wild Stag, who didn't seem to care about human or having his photo taken, Scotland. (not sure of the composition)

And to be fair, A Tomb in The Burren in Ireland.

Your photographic skills just keep getting better and better. The weird looking cow....beautiful! And you go for the light every time and nail it. I would like to see more of these.

Hi Craig, welcome back. I thought I hadn't seen you been posting for a while.

I really like 2,3,4. The colours in these are just superb.
#1 looks a little dark on the rocks. Looks like a tricky exposure.

Cheers
John

Hi John, yeah I had been a bit quiet, and while I did have net access on the trip, I didn't have any editing tools, so decided to wait and share the shots when I got home. #1 is a little tricky, and if I get time I might do some dodge and burn and try to bring the shot up a little more. (I also need to calibrate my monitor again).

Edit : Just did a rough edit, to rocks are lighter now, but obviously one of my colour spaces is out, as this looks rather different to the other version posted.

I like the last three photos best. The one with the wild stag is beautiful and unusual.

Hi Craig, try pulling a little out of the blue channel. The edited image just seems a little bit too blue now.

Cheers
John

Craig I can only echo Matt’s words and add my own in the form of “from an acorn doth the oak grow”

That is a beautiful shot of the Stag and the lighting in the Tomb shot really sets it apart as well.
Great work, pleasure to be able to share it.

Craig

Welcome back. Guess Katie relented enough to let you take a DSLR though  What can I say that hasn't been said already - love the magical light in #2 and #4. And #1 has a strong blue/cyan cast to me as well. Look at the blown highlighon the left of the rocks - it's noticably cyan when it should be whiter

Love the Stag shot Craig, the composition shows the vastness of the environment he lives in..

Thanks for sharing

Nice images Craig. You always seem to get some great light when you are over there. Perhaps that is testament to your desire to get a great image :)
