Both of the images are a couple of stops under exposed. I think 2 is the stronger image, with a better angle, showing the aggressive lines of the commodore. What were your camera settings?
If you find a good shot in low light and no tripod, try to find something to brace/balance your camera on. This angle would have still worked with your camera on a bundled up jacket or something on the ground. Your white balance seems a tad off, with your whites a tad yellow.
