Hi Bob,
This is a sensitive, pensive and well posed portrait.
Pro's:
It's emotive and makes you wonder what they're thinking or what news they have just been told.
I think it suits B&W but would like to see a colour version too.
Cons:
I find the background magazine (face on magazine) quite distracting
How did you convert this? I find the whites a bit hot, her left cheek and his hand/wrist.

I agree with Geoff. I really like the pose and the black and white but I think perhaps a different treatment. I don't find the magazine distracting but am drawn to the hot spots on the lady's face and the man's hand. Are these blown out in the original?

The skylight was indeed producing a couple of hot spots, I thought about removing them but in the end I decided to leave them there. The original looks like this ...

Apart from the hand on the bottom left, I actually really like the colour version.
