Over the long weekend, made an effort to wake up at 5 to take photos of the sunrise on the harbour. It was pretty lucky to have the harbour waters so still to be able to take a 8sec shot.

Ive never seen the water so still.
While the water is still, long exposures give an averaging effect, so the water seems quieter than it really is.
Maybe i need to wake up earlier
Probably

This is a fantastic image and I like it a lot (a real lot), but wonder if there is actually a better image here by dropping the pano crop and going more traditional. I'd try tremoving the right third (all but the bridge on ramp) so the bridge is centred in the frame. At present there is a little too much tension for me between the stronger colours of the city skyline and the wonderful reflection of the bridge on the harbour.

Lovely - especially the curves of the Bridge and its reflection.

i love the reflections on the still water. i reckon it might look good with a more severe pano crop of the clouds, and just a wee bit off the sides. For me the still water is the central aspect, and the clouds just dont seem to complement the rest of it for me.
shame about the rigging on the left side of the bridge too...

Thank you all for the your comments.
stubbsy: I've cropped it tighter for this one. I think I should have tried switching to a longer lens.
scott s: Took more of the skies away. Yeah.. I kind of like the pano look for the bridge, emphasises the length. Yes, shame about the scaffoldings

Actually this is a bugbear of mine....what is that ugly scaffolding being used for? It seems to be permanent and its a bloody eyesore on a fantastic symbol of Sydney.

I believe the scaffolding is there for a maintenance pupos and will eventually be removed, I do agree though that it is an eyesore
Love the final crop
Cheers
