Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Hey all,

These pictures were taken a little while back, when SURCAS asked me take some photos of their performance. I have decided to post them up and let you guys rip at them, it has been something that I have been planning to do for awhile, but have only just gotten around to it. On the night I was using my trusty D300+ AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 and my (little sister's) S5 Pro + AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8VR (thanks Seeto). All constructive criticisms are welcome.

Cameron, I think the first is tremendous, if it was a perfect world would like the face a fraction more lit but that is not your choice in such a performance. I think the crop is too tight on the hula hoops, maybe because I am an old bloke I would prefer a more traditional look of her staring into negative space rather than away, though again there may be something out of the frame I can't see. 3 doesn't do much for me whilst 4 is a very interesting image with a great atmospheric feel, maybe a tad more space at his back to complement the space above and in front. I would be very happy to have taken those away from a performance

Thanks Glen, I will have to keep that in mind (note to self - shoot wider and crop in future). I was very happy that these turned out nicely. The S5 did not miss a beat that night, it was a joy to shoot that event and strangely enough I felt very comfortable throughout, save for the short duration of each act.
