More playing with super macro shots with the D300, PK-13, 60mm f/2.8D, SB-800 and new DIY softbox.

Both taken at ISO 400, 1/250s with the aperture ring on the lens set to f/22. Lens was focused as close as it can go, so when combined with the extension tube, these are larger than 1:1.

The first shot is of an adult and it is uncropped with a small amount of post processing.

The second shot is a nymph and it slightly cropped (3673x2439 from 4288x2848) as the subject was too low in the frame.

Fantastic Shots Andrew,

In the second shot, the right hand side of the head seems to be fading into the leaf.

Have you tried bumping up the contrast a bit?

Andrew - fantastic shots as always - the adult shot is superb - wonderful colour, dof and I love it :)

The nymph shot seems a little flat -but that may be an artifact due to the markings on the leaf :?
