A pelican is a large water bird with a distinctive pouch under the beak, belonging to the bird family Pelecanidae.

A very tricky shot in the low light. You did well to get it. I think in order to make the image 'sing' you need to brighten the pelican just a little so that he stands out from the background. This wouldn't be too difficult in Photoshop. Let me know if you want some pointers on how to do that.

I like this image and agree with matt K....... my only other nit would be the dark lines top and bottom on a dark image, as they conflict with other parts of the image and draw your eye away

Thanks, yeah I guess he does need a little lighting up, I'll have a go in PS.
Regarding the borders, yeah your probably correct there also, it does tend to lead the eye elsewhere, thanks for feedback.
