Hi All
Managed to snap a few nice portraits on a trip to the Solomon's.
I am happy enough with the first two, but I really like #3. Unfortunately my feelings aren't shared by a few people I have shown it to. Was I too caught up in the emotion of the situation? Some critical feedback about the photo would be great. Cheers

What was the feedback you received with regards to the portraits? They seem spontaneous and I esp like no 3
No. 1 could prob do with tad better focus on eyes, but I like the carefree nature of the shot
I like the detail with the rubberband bracelets in 2
No 3 looks like a poignant moment captured

Number 3 is certainly the most moving. I know its cliche but a child with big hopeful eyes is always a story waiting to tell.

I agree with jimmy regarding number 2. The rubber bands add a needed splash of colour and freshness while you have used the natural light to highlight the subject.

Finally number 1 although the eyes are not in perfect focus I believe the smiling mouth is the most drawn to aspect of the picture (after the fro') and again that captures the boys enthusiasm and joy better than his eyes did.

I understand everyones opinions are different but fail to see any negative aspect to the nature of these shots.

A job well done.

Thanks for the comments

jammy2 - feedback was that #3 didn't really do it for a couple of people I showed (however I really like it). Obviously these things are subjective - I think it is definitely easier to critique the technical side of a photo which is less subjective than the emotive aspect...

well done, i agree with everyone else about the wrist band and coloring, the 3rd image captured me, i have no idea why, but the more i look at it the more my eyes are drawn to her little hand on her mum's arm, its really sharp and crisp, a lot more then the mother and her mothers arm. What settings were you using? it is so sharp or did you touch it up in photo shop? either way well done! :D
