Shot in front of a black background with a flash CR and slightly behind smoke. Then choose your incence and let it do its job.
I had camera on tripod and was releasing shutter via a cable. I just used my hands or breath to try and create different movements in the smoke.
The top pics are just colour temp adjustments. To get a white background just invert the colours, and the last is almost straight out of camera.
I also used a white or black brush to get rid of any unwanted smoke...
