Also a bit of a motor racing fan.....especially anything on dirt. All with Nikon D50 and Nikkor 300mm f4. Have to shoot between and through fence wires, which is a bit of a pain. I set myself up on the grassy bank in a position which minimises the interference and maximises the image potential. I stay away from the tripod for as long as I can until the shutter speed simply becomes too low. I like the freedom of free hand photography.

Mark

Some great images, Number 3 for the action for me and also nice work on number four. Not framed to its potential but im a fan of speedway bikes so it gets my nod of approval (not that it means much. lol).

I like number 4 for all of the dirt that is coming up and the tyre (or lack thereof) in the third.

Hi Mark, some great captures you've got there! I like no. 4 with all the dirt flicking up in the background. Out of interest where you at Adelaide Speedway? I've been meaning to head out there sometime but I wasn't sure if it was any good for shooting. Sounds alright but you have to shoot between the fence all the time? Also are the events in the evening?

Yes....Adelaide...north of the city. You wil need to shoot between the wires, but if you get high on a grassy end you'll find a sweet spot....prefocus and pan as they enter that spot. Yep....at night usually. Speedway City I think its called these days...used to be Roley Park.
