The first of many...1st shot I like from NZ

Bel and I are back from our honeymoon which we spent in NZ's South Island. We hired a campervan and travelled around over 10 days and did a total of 2688km's.
I really want to improve my landscape photography. This one has been cropped to a pano style and just had levels adjusted. It was taken at Lake Wanaka. A HUGE thank you to Rooz for the very generous loan of the magical Nikon 14-24, which has given me lens lust like I haven't had in a long time!

That's not Wanaka.
Wanaka is windy and cloudy and wet. There are no mountains behind the lake. Just a mass of cloud. :D

Great photo. Shame the weather didn't cooperate as well for us back in September.

Where else did you go? We toured the Caitlins & were awestruck with its wild beauty.
But then we had already covered a good deal of the more accessible areas.

Nice pic Geoff.

Funny thing is that with all three of my marriages I had no time to see any landscapes and did not travel more than a few feet on my honeymoons

Yeah, but you pay Road User Charges on top of that (per km travelled) - provides a somewhat distorted view of the costs ;)

Lovely weather on Wanaka huh - you're very lucky :) Not a bad spot eh!

Hi Geoff,

great shot of Wanaka, that lake was very co-operating for you. I just got back myself yesterday. Spent last week around Wanaka, we probably crossed paths 8)

I haven't even started processing my photos yet. This one certainly show Lake Wanaka at its best. Which spot around the lake did you take this shot from?

My only nit on this one is the blown whites on the peaks but very minor. Pano crop works great for this.

Cheers,

André

Thanks Andre,
This was taken on the eastern/road side of the lake, probably somewhere opposite Minaret Bay. We probably did cross paths, freaky! :)

What is wrong with the weather at Wanaka? I spend at least two weeks of every christmas of my life until I was about 18 at Wanaka and we didn't have to dig very deep moats around the tents to divert the rainwater  Of course, I grew up in Invercargill so I probably have a very distorted view of the weather! Now I am hanging out to get home and see the pic (smugmug gets blocked by our corporate firewall).

Ant.
