went down to the beach early Sunday and spent 37sec subjecting my sensor to a little light

as I need to use this photo for a low light B&W entry at my camera club I was playing further in light room and added a little graduated toning to the B&W image for fun

this looks great printed A3 on archival matte with my new Epson Pro 3800 (and the wife likes it) :)

So which one is your preferred treatment ??

another shot from the morning

Keith,

All three are great. I really like the mood in the last one. Of the first two, I think I prefer the original for the blue in the sky and the green on the rocks.

I have no choice to to say :agree: The blues in #1 really give the image a bit more life, 2# seems to lose some of it. 3# is really really really good!

Hi Keith,

I like what you are trying to do with the second one. For me, it's almost there. As the others have said, the sky looks better in the first but you should be able to give it that same drama and more with the b&w. I think it may have a bit of green coming through and that for me, takes some of the b&w effect away. I'm no expert for b&w, so take this with a grain of salt. To show you what I mean, look at David Burnedy's work at:
http://www.davidburdeny.com/

Look at the North America series for what I mean.

I also find that the third is a great photo.

Cheers,

André

Well Keith I will rock the boat a little,
I like #2.
It has something about it that is not there in #1. Feels softer/smoother.
Not a fan of #3, sorry. It is plain compared with #1.

I like the treatment in both shots. They would both look good on the wall.

i have to say #2 does it for me, i like the sky in #1, but i found the green on the rocks too much, so i think thats why #2 is my fav! very nice. a great effort. kristen

The treatment on #3 is amazing, it looks completely different to the other two.

:D

Anyway, I like #2, the BW works very well, and I don't particularly like the colours
in the original, specifically the green.
