I like the shot as well, it has great mood. Unfortunately it is way too dark, I find myself just about putting my nose on the screen to try and see some detail.

I'll have a play with the curves and brightness when I get home and see if I can brighten it up a little without losing the mood.

Cameron I like it too. Agree with Craig's comments when viewed on a monitor, though printed on A3 think it would go fine just as is on the wall.

I have to agree as well, lovely shot but too dark, although, I think full screen it may be much better and i think this would make an awesome print.

I love what you have done, and that is with the 800pixel wide jpg, imagine what you could do if i gave you the 14-bit raw!

I think I have a good idea as to what to do with this to improve it now.

Thanks!!

Go the b&w or the light sepia FTW!

Excellent composition, I like the B/W or light sepia too. The first one is way too dark.

I looked at it again on my little sister's laptop (other little sister was on my desktop that has Capture NX2 and CS2 etc) and suprisingly, this laptop (my ancient one that I have left at uni) shows this picture to be a lot darker than it actually is! I'll try to do some editing on it when I get a chance (I have not forgotten, just have not gotten the chance to yet) and post up the results. I may however get a 8x12" straight out of camera print done to see how it is on paper.

nice work aim!.... i have to say i like the edited 3rd version and the b&w one. But more so the third, but what a great idea, your original looks ok on my screen, a tad too dark obviously as everyone else mentioned, but when i do look at it it reminds me of silkmaterial, as though you've placed it over the top of the image, which i actually like a lot. let us know how you go withthe original once its printed, i think it will look nicer printed, given that you get it done at the right place....(def not big W)

Here we go, edited images. I went through a number of steps and played with a few options so here are the final products:

Adjusted Curves
Image

Adjusting Colour Balance
Image

Converting to B+W (Convert to B+W option) with increased Contrast
Image

Converting to B+W (Desaturation of Colors)
Image

Sepia (Desaturation B+W then increase in warmth)

Very Sorry I have 5 images in this post

i think i'm in the minority here but i find the dark brooding mood of the first one very appealing. good job Cam.

Cameron, I reckon the BW conversion is a winner for me! It seems to bring out the whitecaps of the waves which tend to lead my eye - just my thoughts tho! :D

The original? I like that a lot myself the lightened version just does not do it for me.

Which BW conversion? (Desatuaration or BW convert tool+Contrast)

I am really torn between the two BWs!!
