Bird food
Posted: Wed Dec 10, 2008 9:42 pmTook this series at Gluepot, in South Australia recently. I heard them from my campsite, and the light was just right for a change.
Juvenile Grey Butcherbird - there were 3, but the others mostly hid in the shade.
I thought that was it, then the parent turned up for feeding. I was pretty pleased at this point.
I followed the parent back to where it was getting the meal from. I never knew what they ate till now. Less fortunate Butcherbirds from the look of it. Quite possibly the younger ones sibling.
Later it all got too much, and the young one fell asleep. This was quite amusing, wish I'd had a video camera.
