Very nice.
Excellent light and highlights, great DOF, and just a great picture overall.

Nice,
Reminds me of myself last Friday when I went to have a good feed by myself before the Wedding Shoot.
Thinking what the hell am I doing this to myself for.
Lucky I did feed, I think I would have fainted half way through the afternoon if I hadn't.
Nice image Chris.
It's great how the light is caught in B&W on his jacket.

Great work Chris, very gritty (in an emotional sense). Love the high contrast BW. Looks like a print on Grade 4 Agfa paper.

Love that shot Chris, was it used professionally?

I was having a coffee outside a cafe in Crows Nest when I saw the guy at the next cafe. I actually felt sorry for him - he seemed to be quite lonely, that is why I made the final pic a high contrast black and white.
Not used professionally

The camera was the Nikon D1 with the venerable 28-105mm. As far as shooting details are concerned I do not have the EXIF and quite honestly I can’t remember.
The PP consisted of layer desaturate from colour, followed by a crop, then contrast mask and finally pen selection of the scene in front of the man for a selection and some gaussian blur to give it a more out of focus look.

Chris
This image has the look of TRI-X. Can't believe it's digital.

But without the grain Matt. What do you think?
Chris, it could look good with a bit of grain effect added.

Good impression, I can almost smell the coffee!
Did you paint out any of the contrast at the bottom of the shot ie adjust layer
PS?

Sean - I had my own coffee, the best in Crows Nest. I painted nothing out at all.
This photo is the same pic with a grain effect added. 51% contrast and 41% intensity - normal grain in
PS.

Thanks mate, looks good with the grain too? haven't thought of ever putting grain into an image, usually I am trying to take it out (damm noise)
Cool suggestion and follow up guys.

Excellent image Chris, especially suited to B&W, he could be anyone, seems lonely, tells a story.

Great capture, Chris. The pic with the grain added reminds me of an HP3 shot. Anyone else remember that film?

I do remember developing Tri-X film in hot Dektol paper developer to get giant size grain out of it. Does that count? Ah, the good old days.
I like the grain added to the picture, but find the colorized pixels distracting.
