For Colin, Greg and others that were part of that conversation. Here is my entry to this year's Sydney Life competition. It did not place, but I still quite like this photo. For the record I submitted this straight out of camera.

This was shot from the hip using my D300 and my Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8.

I like it, with the sun flare, however I reckon it would have had stronger weight if you had a more frontal point of view with respect to the people walking to left of image - these people seem to have a dominant weight to the image, but it looks like you are more behind them.

I agree with you there Patrick. I will also add that the foremost person is slightly out of focus as well.

Hmmm,
I think that it would be a bit stronger without the lass in the imediate foreground.
But that could just be me.
